Todays session was based around Create and lots of opportuntiies for students to be creative both within the reading framework and other learning areas.
There was lot of intersting ideas to consider and a huge variety of create tools to play around with which is always exciting. U really liked the Craiyon image creator which was similar to a couple of other AI image creators I have used. I also really want to trial the Adobe Podcasting tool
A big focus of the day was to ecourage the SiSoMo in creating which stands for Sight Sound and Motion as this makes the DLO or the create more engaging. I also liked the idea of this as it means that students need to not just create something that is 1 dimentional but multi dimentional which requires a deeper understanding.
It was also affirming the message that students need to be creators of their own content rather than just consumers as this is something that I often refer to my students about - I also liked how Kiri talked about this enabling students to "peek behind the curtains" to help students to be more critical as AI becomes more evident in their daily lives. This was an interesting add on to my origional thinking as in many ways I am reluctant for students to overuse the AI component in their learning. We have done a little experimenting but not as a main focus. Another concept I want to remember is that the create tasks act like a net for those students who haven't quite grasped concepts or topics being covered. I love using these create tasks as I have seen this in action but have never actually thought or refered to it in this way. Next steps... * As we were going over some of the tools I was reminded that a group of students really wanted to create games and quizzes for each other so this is something I want to do
* Continue and extend the create tasks that I plan and use in class - many of the graphic organiser we explored today will be useful in this. - Looking forward to this.
*Trial Storyboard that - as it looks like a really cool app that I have never seen before.
* Come up with some key points to share at a staff meeting or 2 moving foward - especially for the Phase 2 team.
* I love that I have set a challenge for my student (and whanau) which really fits with lots of what Create was about today so will be neat to follow up on these challenges.
1. Being create another book review
2. Get a picture taken of them reading in a cosy or creative way (task set yesterday and already have my most reluctant reader emailing me a cute video of this - so WINNING)
3. Support a person outside of our class to create a book review e.g. a parent, aunty, uncle, older brother, nana or even neigbour.
